The South Surrey Interceptor collects sewage from South Surrey and Langley, and conveys it to the Annacis Island Wastewater Treatment Plant. In order to accommodate growth and enhance environmental protection, Metro Vancouver is constructing a second sewer near the existing pipe. Members of the C&E team worked on this project from 2015 to 2017, working with Metro Vancouver’s in-house Public Involvement team to develop and implement communications and engagement strategies for different phases of the project and provide a range of community outreach services including: 

 

• Organizing and facilitating meetings and workshops with high-impact stakeholders to obtain input into the project’s planning processes and construction tender documents

• Responding to public inquiries and helping resolve issues where needed

• Tracking all inquiries and issues for the project

• Organizing and facilitating public information sessions

• Writing briefs and reports on communications and engagement activities
