In the Spring of 2018, BC Hydro submitted a proposal to the Vancouver School Board (VSB) to purchase land on a school property in order to build an underground substation. VSB hired The C&E Group to develop and implement a consultation and engagement program with the school’s parents and surrounding community to obtain information and feedback that would help the Board decide whether or not to accept BC Hydro’s proposal. Over the course of three months, the C&E Group developed a communications and engagement strategy, developed a detailed implementation schedule, designed and facilitated workshops with parents and community members, and prepared a final summary report for the Board including key decision criteria to consider. The Board made their decision on June 25, 2018, noting the criteria from our report as contributing to them being able to make a difficult decision, confidently.
